Walk with me, along the Nile at Luxor... |
As a child, I would hide quietly under the eaves of our home, where my parents and grandparents books were stored. There, far away from elders eyes, I traveled to many places far beyond my reach (I thought). A curious child, perhaps too curious... and fearless...I wished but never believed that perhaps one day, the world would not be a just picture but a place where my footsteps left a shadow. The wish was there but the "how to" was far beyond my imagination. In the late 40's, only a few had the means and the wish to travel ...but who would go to Egypt ..might I?
Doors..open or shut...are a fascination.Mom still wonders as she wanders in & out of reality,"What is beyond that door, that window, who lives there, what are they like." She taught me to imagine the same, never let an opportunity go by to See! Mom isn't intrusive, she is funny, quiet, gentle and loved, even now as the Alzheimer's takes so much away, moments peek thru and I remember..Many of my favorite pictures are of her beloved windows and doors and I too, wonder about the people and lives beyond them, this one happens to be in Edinburgh, Scotland just down from The Castle where a friend of mine whose job for now is the Pipe Major of the Argylls. Anyway, maybe one day, someone will see their own door and write. And, then I will tell them how often their own door gave us so much pleasure. By the way, I hope you will enjoy my photos and thoughts as I wander thru memories. Stop in, visit.. and set a spell and let me know how I am doing.... | A Door...Open or Shut is the beginning...
The beauty of New York City... |
I worked on Wall Street and saw this view each day... a view of one of the greatest cities in the world from Arthur's Landing in Weehawken what a beautiful day it was. The nice thing about this side of the city is that it always sparkles and glows, whether at dusk or in full light..the magic that is New York sits like a stage floating on the Hudson...you can find anything here..and it may cost your life or just a smile but that is the way of most cities. About the people..if you are a stranger and look lost, you will find just how beautiful New Yorkers can be.
